Parallel Computing Technologies
(PaCT-2005)
Eighth International Conference
September 5-9, 2005
Krasnoyarsk, Russia

WELCOME

The Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics (Novosibirsk) and the Institute of Computational Modelling (Krasnoyarsk) of the Russian Academy of Sciences are jointly organizing the Eighth International Conference on PARALLEL COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES (PaCT-2005). The conference will be held in Krasnoyarsk, September 5-9, 2005.

Seven previous conferences have been held in Novosibirsk (1991), Obninsk (1993), St.-Petersburg (1995, LNCS Vol.964), Yaroslavl (1997, LNCS Vol. 1277), Pushkino (1999, LNCS Vol.1662), Novosibirsk (2001, LNCS Vol.2127) and Nizhni Novgorod (2003, LNCS Vol 2763).

The aim of the PaCT-2005 is to give an overview of new developments, applications, and trends in parallel computing technologies. We sincerely hope this conference will help to our deepen understanding of parallel computing technologies by providing a forum for an exchange of views between scientists and specialists from over the world.

We welcome your active participation.

Two days school of young scientists in parallel computing technologies will be organized in conjunction with the conference. The school will be held in September 4-5, 2005.

MAIN TOPICS

  • All aspects of the applications of parallel computer systems
  • Methods and tools for parallel solution of large-scale problems
  • Languages, environment and software tools supporting parallel processing
  • Operating systems, scheduling, mapping, load balancing
  • General architecture concepts, enabling technologies
  • Performance measurement and analysis
  • Cellular automata and cellular neural networks
  • Teaching parallel processing
  • GRID computing for large scale numerical modelling

CALL FOR PAPERS

Original manuscripts are solicited for the Conference. The full paper (not more then 15 pages) should be submitted by January 20, 2005. An extended abstract (about 5-7 pages) is accepted up to February 5, 2005. The papers should be sent to the conference address (see below). Only electronic submission of manuscripts is accepted.

The first page should include (but not be limited to) the following information: title, the author’s full names, affiliation, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address.

Please, use Springer Verlag format.

To gain the better understanding of your abstract, we also request that you include the following information: short review of related papers, formulation of the problem, objectives, description of results, main ideas, and list of references.

All papers will be internationally reviewed. Authors will be notified of acceptance by March 15, 2005. We will require camera-ready copy of the accepted paper by May 20, 2005.

The organizers expect that the authors of selected papers will present their paper in Krasnoyarsk.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

The papers should be prepared in LNCS style (Microsoft Word, LaTex or PostScript).

PROCEEDINGS

The Conference Proceedings is planned to be published as the volume of the Springer Verlag LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) series and distributed at the Conference. Selected papers will be published in special issue of the Int. journal on Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier Science), devoted to parallel computing technologies.

LANGUAGE

The official language of the Conference is English.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Cultural program is planned for the participants and accompanying persons. Krasnoyarsk is an administrative center in the East Siberian region with about one million population. The city is divided by the Yenisei River into two parts. It was founded as a fort in 1628 and received the status of a city in 1690 when Siberia was finally joined to Russia. Nowadays Kransoyarsk is the cultural and scientific center. The branch of the Academy of Sciences with several institutes and Krasnoyarsk State University are located here. The suburbs of Kransoyarks are very picturesque. About 3 km to the south-west from the city on the right bank of Yenisei a nature reservation of rare beauty, called «Stolby», is located. The world-known Krasnoyarsk Hydro-Electric Power Station has been constructed not far from the city. It was the biggest station in the world during many years.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Submission of the full paper January 20. 2005
  • Submission of the extended abstract: February 5, 2005
  • Notification of acceptance: March 15, 2005
  • Camera-ready version of the accepted paper: May 20, 2005
